Selling on Tokyofishmarket

Whether you're clearing one shelf or running a shop, here's how selling works.

Who can sell?

Anyone with a Tokyofishmarket account can sell. We have two seller types:

  • Individual (C) sellers — collectors reselling personal items. Instant approval, one listing = one item
  • Professional (B) sellers — shops and businesses. Quick verification with business name and tax ID. Can list inventory with quantities greater than one

Setting up your seller account

  1. 1Create or log into your Tokyofishmarket account
  2. 2Go to Sell and start the seller onboarding
  3. 3Complete identity verification through Stripe Connect (government ID, bank account)
  4. 4Accept the Tokyofishmarket Marketplace Terms and Stripe Connected Account Agreement
  5. 5You're ready to list

Creating a listing

Every listing connects to our catalog of 7M+ products. Search for your item, or create a custom entry if it's not in our database yet.

  • Select the canonical product (or create a custom entry)
  • Choose the condition: Sealed, Like New, Good, Fair, or Poor
  • Set your price in JPY, USD, or CAD
  • Upload photos — original photos required, you can supplement with manufacturer images
  • Add a description with any details about the item's condition, accessories, or defects
  • Set your shipping preferences
  • Publish

Condition grades

We follow a grading system inspired by Mercari Japan — the standard in Japanese collectibles.

  • Sealed — Factory sealed, never opened. Box in perfect condition
  • Like New — Opened but displayed briefly. No visible wear, all accessories included
  • Good — Displayed or handled. Minor signs of use, no damage. Box may show light wear
  • Fair — Visible wear, minor scuffs or marks. May be missing minor accessories. Box shows wear
  • Poor — Significant wear, damage, or missing parts. Priced accordingly

Pricing your items

Set your own price. Our platform shows you market data to help — recent sale prices for the same product, price trends over time, and what similar items are listed for. You're never locked into a price and can adjust anytime while the listing is active.

After the sale

  1. 1You receive a notification when someone buys your item
  2. 2Confirm the order within 3 days (auto-cancel if you don't respond)
  3. 3Pack the item securely and ship with tracking
  4. 4Mark the order as shipped in your dashboard
  5. 5The buyer receives the item and has 48 hours to inspect
  6. 6If no issues are raised, your payout is released

Getting paid

Payouts go directly to your bank account via Stripe Connect. After the 48-hour claim window closes with no issues, funds are released. Typical timeline from sale to money in your account: 7-14 days depending on shipping speed.
