Display & Shelfie Guide

Your collection deserves to be seen. Here's how to make it beautiful — on your shelf and on your feed.

Organizing your collection

  • By group — one section per group. Easiest for multi-stans
  • By era/album — chronological within each group. Shows your journey
  • By member — all one member together across eras. For dedicated bias collectors
  • By card type — POBs together, album PCs together, event PCs together. For serious traders who need to find cards fast
  • Color-coordinated — aesthetic over logic. Looks amazing on Instagram

Shelf setup

  • IKEA Billy and Kallax are community favorites — affordable, clean lines, versatile
  • Acrylic risers create tiered display for album visibility
  • LED strip lights or fairy lights for backlit shelf aesthetics
  • Lightstick stands — acrylic or custom stands for display
  • Wall-mounted displays for limited or feature pieces
  • One shelf per group, or one area per era — however your brain organizes

Binder organization

  • A4 binders with 9-pocket pages for large collections
  • Mini binders for small sets, tour merch, or specific eras
  • D-ring binders over O-ring — pages stay flatter, less bending
  • Label sections for easy trading reference
  • Double-sleeve cards before inserting into binder pages

Collection care

  • UV light fades prints — avoid direct sunlight. Use UV-protective glass if framing
  • Humidity damages cardstock — store in dry environments
  • Rotate displayed cards so all get exposure without sustained fading
  • Acid-free materials for long-term storage
  • Never stack heavy items on album photobooks
  • Keep lightstick batteries removed during storage to prevent corrosion

Unboxing and social media

Your collection is content. Here's how to make it shine.

  • TikTok unboxing tips: get to the pull in the first 3 seconds, genuine reactions > scripted, ASMR sounds (peeling plastic, flipping pages) boost engagement
  • Instagram shelfie tips: consistent color palette, good natural lighting, clean background, edited with the same filter
  • The reaction shot is everything — screaming, crying, shocked silence. Don't fake it, the audience knows
  • Series format works: 'Unboxing all 7 versions' creates multi-part content
  • Tragedy humor is relatable: 'spent $300 and not one Jimin'
  • Deco content — decorating photocards and binders in time-lapse is a whole subgenre
